Great job TFR! (mame32k .67)

Postby Kurgan » Mon Apr 14, 2003 12:19 pm

I haven't tried mame32k .67 online yet, but so far it seems the slickest yet!

All the good stuff from the official mame32... sweet.

Now to try it online... ; )

possible bug, and a few questions...

Postby Kurgan » Tue Apr 15, 2003 4:17 am

So far so good!

Played a few great games of TMNT: Turtles in Time and Violent Storm. ; )

A few people told me that their games crash mame unless you "go into the options menu" right away at the start (f2 menu). I don't know if this is true, as I don't host very much, but I thought I'd mention it here just the same.

Is there a written faq on using the autosave/reload features and control switching? I don't have much experience with those, but they seem pretty neat.

Also, I see Joust is still not working (resets when you press start, after inserting coins)... all versions as far as I could tell.

Love the rendering options and the steadykey support (just like mame32).
; )

Can somebody also explain the "pre-.63 timing" and how it is different than the current version?

That was me you were playing with yesturday(the host). Well not exactly game options menu. I did say, go to default options in mame, tick/untick, ok then it runs fine. However that needs to be done everytime mame is executed. If TFR can fix it, that would be great. Although people say yeah it is not good because of the bug, I can understand since it annoys me once a while but then the performance is very much like the MAME32 0.67 with barley any button lag.

About the pre-timing thing, I'm not sure what that is but I think it's a timing algorithm I believe which was used in the older mames. I noticed the K version has it on but the official doesn't so I took that off.

Thanks for posting Maniac (you rock!), I wasn't sure exactly the details of the problem you explained. ; )

KI works online? Whoa... that'd be something to see. Humbling for my computer I bet...

I'm wondering if maybe the Xp fix screwed me up... I'm using 98se, and I was fine before.

No idea though... : (

Now I see that it was some weird Curse (tm) on my computer.

As I've tried it now (after the magic 27 reboots of windows) and it works perfectly. No problems with 417.

I apologize for my whining earlier. ; p
