There is a hack/exploit that lets people "join" a game in progress, but they can't actually play, they aren't synched with the game that's going and nobody can "see" them in-game.

All they are doing is lagging the game and chatting with the host. So it's not truly a "join game" feature, or else it would be enabled in every client version by now.

Sorry, but it doesn't really work, it just "looks like it works."

Unfortunately...

And I don't know precisely how it's done, but like I said, it's not what you think it is (what we all want)... joining a game in progress as if you dropped a credit into an arcade machine that some friends are already playing.

Its the truth. You don't think so because you don't know. 212.175.238.76:27888 is running official server binary which desperately needs updating.

In laymans terms, The modified client you are referring to will only allow one to join the gameroom for chat purposes. You cannot join a playing game...meaning you can't enter the room and expect to start playing with them mid-match. Kaillera does not work like that.

There's absolutely no point in using this exploit, unless you want to try to fool/impress noobs or annoy people who are trying to play a game by chatting/lagging them...

If that's what you want to do, forget it. There's enough egotistical script kiddies hanging around as it is, no need to add to the pile.

Your comments are useless. I solved my problem. Now I can join games while they are currently playing. I can join and chat with other players .
You wanna know how could this happen . Hmmmm I wont tell you. But solution is really simple.
If you want some proof ; just tell me your server IP and nickname.
My Kaillera nick is SerdarPisOynar ... and I'm using Mame0.64

I agree. I guess even in "laymans' terms", some people are just that uneducated.

We know you can use this useless skill HAGGAR... it's pointless.

What you CAN'T DO (and still can't do) is join a game in progress and actually PLAY, which was the point that was being made.

Joining somebody's game in progress to interrupt them and chat is pretty tactless, anyway.

Yes and no. At GodWeapon, we are all pretty friendly and nobody really minds joining playing games [only a select few who are elevated or admin can do it anyway]. More of a social thing then anything. I remember on the stock Kaillera Servers, that little hack was very much abused to ruin games.

I see it as the equivalent of, in the arcade, when you and a friend are playing a game, to have a random stranger walk up to you and start talking to you over your shoulder.

It's distracting and annoying, and could cost you the game, especially since there's no real way to get them to go away that doesn't throw off your concentration on what you're doing.

If the admin of the server is wandering around popping into people's playing games and saying hi, well uh ok, but what's the point?

The one case where I can see it might be of some use is when you start up a game after you get sick of waiting for that one person and then they join later and want to let the other folks know that they're there. But the same feat could be accomplished by Instant Message or email. They snooze, they lose...

If you can't actually join a game in progress to play, then it's stupid and a waste of bandwidth.

Basically what it amounts to is that the game you start is no longer sacrosanct and any fool can just pop in and abuse it.

If players are given the ability to ever just join any game to play or to chat, there should IMMEDIATELY be put in place an option for the host of that game to LOCK OUT players. There's no reason for them to admit 50 people into their game for example, just because they can.

In the arcades of course if it was a two player game, it was still common courtesy to check first to see if it was okay to join a game in progress that somebody else was already engrossed in, especially if they weren't a friend. And common courtesy also was to leave the players alone.

Yes, it's true the arcade operator to could ask you to leave or interrupt the game for some other reason, but typically if they wanted to keep business they would interact with the players as little as possible except where absolutely necessary (ie: if the players initiated the conversation, asked to change a bill, solicit refund, machine needs maintainance, etc).

I see Kaillera as a virtual version of a video arcade, not a glorified (or stripped down) version of mIRC, so that's how I figure it should be treated.
