Program restart required after hosting game...

Postby Kurgan » Sun Feb 23, 2003 11:12 pm

I apologize if this has been posted already, but here's the problem... this has been happening to me a lot lately with the latest version posted on kaillera.com (mostly on the fugu server).

I'll host a game, and then exit. I try to host another game but the "create game" button does NOTHING, and often I can't see my own chat text either.

It's really annoying, and the only way it seems to fix it (to host again) is to restart mame32k completely.

Here is my system info:

win98se
geforce2 gts 32 mb
soundblaster live!
256 mb ram
AMD Athlon 1 Ghz
cable connection
direct x 8.1

Also, another problem I've noticed is that in mame32k, whilst playing the "chat text" is crappy compared to how it was several versions ago. Now when it displays its in a tiny font and it leaves an ugly "blob" behind after its disapeared on the screen that doesn't go away.. its a banded whitish color.

I kind of wish the display options from the official mame32k were incorporated into mame32k.

Finally, I'd like to request adding back in "Steadykey support" to mame32k. It is a feature (in control options) of the official mame32, and it is very useful because it lets you press multiple keys at the same time (without having to record macros in the tab menu) and it actually works.

Otherwise, good job, and good luck with Kaillera 2.0 (or 1.0 whatever it is)!

My ping there is usually 80 or less, and I use "Good" or "Excellent" to play.

Thank you for running the server, a big thanks to EVERYONE who sacraficed bandwidth and time so that others could have fun. ; )

Now, this time hopefully people will patronize several servers this time instead of just over-loading one all the time. Kaillera needs to expand.. no offense.

It's annoying when people just hop from server to server without playing, instead of planting their butts down and just hosting up a game, allowing people to accumulate there. Too many of those guys over in some eastern countries I won't mention have a nasty habit of hanging out in high ping servers in the west and then complaining when it isn't working out. ; p

Ever since Kaillera started, people have always only gone to the server with the most people in it.

I don't think that will change. :(

The "waiting games" tab is what people should use, but it usually just takes too long to populate, I think.
