Christophe hasn't updated in years, but that doesn't stop people from making new client mods with new games, just like TFR used to do.

For example the last build posted on the site is Mame32k .67.

But you can download Mame32 More! .84 (which has kaillera support) and gives you all the games you were missing since then, plus all the fixes!

It has one glitch though, which is the missing sprites in a few atari games, but that's apparently a goof up on the part of the compiler, since the vanilla mame32 .84 doesn't have that bug.

Thanks for the reply. Y'know it's funny.... I fired up kaillera for the first time in like 6 months last night...didn't play anything just wanted to see what was happening, and you know what? People must not have heard about these new client mods because they are STILL using 0.64!! I mean WTF?? Do they not read what's happening on these forums? I saw like 12 people in a row using 0.64 and not ONE person using Mamemore! Can't understand what the hell is going on but if they are not ready to upgrade just think how much of a pain in the ass it is just to find someone who *does* have the latest client mod.

It's a shame really. One the major things that turns me off about the whole Kaillera scene is the fact that so many people are on all different emulators at one time. It's a joke. You host a game of Samurai Shodown on say, Kawaks, and someone joins in demanding you switch to mame, or vice versa....I wanna tell them "mojob YOU switch to *MY* emu beyotch!"

It really needs to evolve to the point where there is only one universal emu that works like a charm with kaillera. That's one of the aspecta that has me excited about Xbox Live and all the fighters coming this fall. It is broadband only, a universal platform and its interface is terribly user friendly and intuitive. If they came out with either a Samurai Shodown compilation disc or Super Puzzle Fighter II for Xbox Live I'd abandon Kaillera altogether. I also heard a rumor that Chris is in talks with the develpers of Xbox Live to bring an updated super-spiffy version of Kaillera to the Xbox.

O.K. that last part was a joke :drinking:

Actually I would LOVE it if Xbox live took over all the Capcom/NeoGeo one on one fighter games and attracted that community away.

That would leave the (admittedly small, but dedicated) community of people who play other games besides those.

Perhaps that would cut down on the kiddie "I must win at all costs and accuse you of hacking if you beat me then whine about it for hours" spammer/flooder factor a bit?

Who knows, but if those people were gone, perhaps there'd be more room for the rest of us.

And people are stubborn about upgrading for some reason. They get set in their ways and they don't listen to information.

On the other hand, not all of them are dedicated like us, they stop visiting the site after waiting for months for an update and they assume there ARE no updates. About the only updates any of them care about are patches that let them play KOF 2003 or something. Oddly enough, that's pretty much what Mame32 More! is. I mean other than being an updated client it has the added bonus of having a few more "modern" games patched in and ready to play that the normal mame doesn't have.

Oh well. I myself would keep a few emulators handy, but it's really stupid for them to whine and complain that they can't spend a few minutes grabbing a few megs for an emulator that's BETTER (gasp) than the one they are using.

The thing is, I guess about the SNK/Capcom fighters is that they are pretty much pefect in all the emulators that support them (except NeoRageX or something really old like that), so the only question is does your emulator play ALL OF THEM. These folks don't care if the TMNT 2 colors are fixed or that the Pit Fighter protection is broken. They just want to be sure that KOF is playable and that they can get their SFA2 and XvSF fix.

Which again, is why I wouldn't mind the elite Vs. fighter guys leave to make room for the classic game players. We need a massive campaign to attract these folks back! We need to get the word out that THERE ARE UPDATES AVAILABLE THAT ARE SUPERIOR TO .64!

Back when .67 came out (which was a long time after .64) people whined that it was "slow" or something. Then with the removal of some of the recent games in .73 people got scared and clutched onto their .64 all the more tightly.

But honestly, .84 is superior in just about every way to either of those versions. More! is so far the best kaillera supported mame32 there is.
