Etai Hugi (THE NEW OWNER)

Since there's no way I can spend anymore time working on Kaillera anymore, Kaillera has indeed been acquired by Etai Hugi, who is a developer from Israel (TC.Ads is no longer involved in the project at all).

well its been quite a long time since this dude took over :/ does anyone happen to know if he speaks english?
when will he update kaillera. how come he never introduced him self to the community?

Yes, he speaks english. He apparently has some plans, but he's somewhat busy also. He wants to improve the forums. I suggested he get vbulletin, since I've worked with those before and they seem pretty good. Of course you have to fork over some cash (like 150$ I think) if you want the full functionality, but anyway, I think it would be worthwhile.

We wouldn't have all this spam and crap going on, and we could easily appoint more moderators without a lot of headaches, and it would look a lot nicer. Even the free version of vbulletin would be better than this I think!

But I haven't talked to him in several weeks. Next time I talk to him I'll mention that he should communicate regularly with the community. I think we can all appreciate that we have a lifeline to the guy in charge, that's much more comforting!

Plus, the main page needs to be updated... get an "official" build up there even if it's just the latest Mame32 plus! plus! with kaillera, and a few links (to anti3d.com, buddhateam's page and emulinker).

You might want to look into phpbb3 (Olympus)

It's still in beta, but it looks like it is going to have a bunch more features, and it looks nice too!

Um, does Etai Hugi (THE NEW OWNER) plan to ever inform us on his current progress on Kaillera? From what i can see ,the only progress that has taken place since Etai Hugi took over is nice big Google ads everywhere(frontpage,newly placed google add below kaillera logo in forums).
it would be cool for Etai Hugi to at least give us an update every 12 months at least

Out of all seriousness, we can't expect too much from him if he is really getting nothing in return but revenue from the ads. If there isn't much inspiration for a project, it doesn't get done: I know the feeling and I know a bunch of you do too. Although I would love some updates, Kaillera will keep kicking(ish) as it has this last year. A lot of new faces are popping up, but a lot are also leaving. Dynamic community indeed.

This way people using the new kaillera will have an easy way to find servers and players that are using the new kaillera. also, if possible... Block the mame32k 0.64 emulator from working on the new kaillera so that it will force people to use the newer mames if they want to use the new kaillera!

An excellent idea. They will fight it at first, but when they see how improved the new server and clients are, they'll get used to it.

You'll have some holdouts, but who cares about them, in the end? We'll have a better community. More stability = less whining, less hacking/exploiting... it's all good!
